What is the best remover for gel polish?

Cured gel polish is dissolved with acetone or with a purpose-made soak-off gel remover, not with ordinary polish remover. The step that matters most is breaking the sealed top coat with a file or e-file bit first, because a cured, intact top layer stops the remover from reaching the color underneath no matter how long you soak.

How long does it take to soak off gel polish?

Typically ten to fifteen minutes once the top coat has been filed through, depending on how many color layers were applied and how heavily the set was built. If product is not lifting at fifteen minutes, re-file the surface and soak again rather than scraping, which is what thins the nail plate.

Can you use regular nail polish remover on gel polish?

No. Non-acetone lacquer remover, such as the Orly non-acetone remover stocked here, is formulated for air-dry polish and will not break down a cured gel film. Use acetone or a dedicated gel remover for soak-off gel, and keep the non-acetone bottle for lacquer and for clients with dry or sensitive skin.

What is the difference between a cuticle remover and a callus remover?

They are different products for different tissue. A cuticle remover is a mild alkaline solution that softens non-living tissue on the nail plate so it lifts cleanly during prep. A callus remover is a stronger softener applied to thickened skin on the heel and foot before filing. They are not interchangeable, and callus remover should never be used on the hands.
