Colour is doing a job whether you chose it or not
Most shade guides tell you which colour matches your personality. That is backwards. A colour is not a description of the person wearing it, it is an effect on the person looking at it, and those are two different questions. Six shades below, and the job each one is doing.
Red is the shade people register first
Red is the only shade on this list that does work before anyone speaks. It reaches the eye first, holds attention longest, and it is read as a decision rather than a preference. Nobody has ever described a red manicure as low maintenance.
The useful part for a tech is that red is unforgiving of shape. A red set makes the free edge the most looked at part of the hand, so it rewards the client who lets you take your time and punishes a rushed cuticle line.

Nude reads expensive, and the colour is not why
A nude does not look costly because of the pigment. It looks costly because it sits close enough to the skin that any regrowth, any lift, any uneven edge is immediately visible, so a nude that still looks clean is proof of upkeep. That is what people are actually reading.
Which makes this a matching problem, not a colour choice. The wrong nude on the wrong skin tone reads grey or chalky and undoes the whole effect. Honey Beige is warm and sits close to a mid skin tone, which is why it is the one we reach for most often behind the counter.

Deep plum is a season change you can wear
Deep plum is the shade clients ask for when they want the calendar to move. It is darker than anything they wore in July without being a full winter shade, and it photographs as wine indoors and near black in daylight, which is most of why it feels expensive for the money.

Green is the one nobody defaults to
Nobody arrives at green by accident. Reds, nudes and pinks are the shades people fall into, so a green set reads as a choice that was made, and it gets asked about more than any other shade in this list.
This one is a cat eye, so the green has a band of light running through it that moves with the hand. It answers the client who wants something deliberate without wanting something loud. You will need a magnet to pull the band.

Two people can wear the same plum and read completely differently, because a glossy top and a matte top are not the same statement. If you want to change what a set says without buying another colour, change the finish first. It is the cheapest edit available to you.
Chrome is the only finish that changes as you move
Every other shade here is fixed. Chrome is the one that behaves differently depending on where the light is, which is exactly why it reads as current: it only really works in motion, and motion is what a phone camera captures.
