Aura nails
What it actually is: a soft airbrushed halo
Aura nails are a glow, not a gradient. One saturated colour sits in a blurred circle in the middle of the nail and fades outward into a nude base, so the whole thing reads like a backlit orb. Nobody airbrushes these in a salon chair. The fast version is an ombre powder tapped into the centre with a dense brush and blended out before it cures, which is a French fade run in reverse.
If you already do baby-boomer ombre with dip powder nails, you can do aura today. The only real change is where you land the darkest point.

Jelly nails are see-through colour. The pigment load is deliberately low so the nail underneath still shows, and the depth comes from how many coats you stack rather than from opacity. Two coats reads like tinted glass. Four reads like a gummy sweet. One pot covers a soft client and a loud one.
Do not fake this by thinning a regular gel nail polish. Thinned gel cures patchy at the free edge. A gel formulated sheer stays even.

Are aura nails and ombre nails the same thing?
No. Ombre fades from one end of the nail to the other. Aura puts the colour in a blurred circle in the middle and fades outward in every direction. Same powders, different placement, and the placement is the entire trend.
Do velvet nails need a special gel, or can I use any cat eye?
Any cat eye gel will do it. The difference is the magnet and how you hold it. A round magnet worked over the whole nail gives you velvet; a bar magnet held at the edge gives you the classic single flare.
Why does my chrome go patchy or grey?
Almost always because the top coat underneath was not fully cured, or it was a wipe top coat and the tacky layer grabbed the pigment. Cure fully, use a no-wipe, and burnish with a firm applicator rather than a light one.
How many sets does a 1g chrome jar actually do?
