The Hero Drop

DND 251–290: 40 new shades, and every one is HEMA-free & TPO-free

If you've been waiting to move your back bar over to HEMA-free gel polish, this is the drop that makes it easy. DND just extended its HEMA/TPO-free duo line by forty shades — numbers 251 through 290 — and the color story is aimed squarely at what walks through your door in September.

Why this matters right now. The EU banned TPO in nail products effective September 1, 2025, after reclassifying it as a Category 1B reproductive toxicant, and tightened its restrictions on HEMA at the same time. That ruling only binds the EU, but because the major houses formulate for a global market, it kicked off reformulation everywhere. HEMA is the small-molecule monomer behind most gel allergy and lifting complaints from techs and clients alike — removing it is the single biggest sensitivity upgrade you can make to a service. Salons that switched early are already using it as a selling point at the desk.

Campus colors are the story. Harvard's Crimson, Oxford Blue, N-Y-U Better Work, M.I.T Silver Steel, Keep It Tuft(s) University, Standing On CSULB Business — school-spirit shades your August and September clients will ask for by name.

The summer-to-fall bridge is covered. PSL Season, Pumpkin Patch, Butterscotch Freckles, Chestnut's Roasting and U.T. Burnt Orange are the warm browns and ambers every fall trend report is calling for.

Matching duo means no guesswork. Gel and lacquer in the same shade — pedicure and manicure match without a second swatch check.

$6.50 a duo. Wholesale pricing, so a full 40-shade wall is a genuinely reasonable line to add.

Gelish Brush-On Builder Gel — 31 shades, in a bottle, HEMA & TPO free

Builder in a bottle keeps taking share from tub-and-brush because it cuts the setup and the cleanup. Gelish's brush-on builder line landed this week in 31 shades — sheers, nudes and now a Deep Red Brown for fall — and like the DND drop it's formulated HEMA-free and TPO-free. If you're weighing formats before you commit, our builder gel vs. hard gel vs. PolyGel breakdown walks through where each one actually earns its place.

Hardware & Back Bar

One genuinely limited item — and three restocks worth the room

Most of this week's drop is color. This part isn't, and one of these has a hard number attached to it.

Extra Wide and Long Nail Hybrid UV/LED curing lamp shown in white
Extra Wide & Long Nail Hybrid UV/LED Lamp $175.00 · 32 units on hand · white, pink, beige, teal

The wide-and-long chamber is the point: a full hand fits without repositioning, and it clears a foot for pedicures — which is where standard lamps cost you time on every single service. Four colorways, eight units each, and this one is not backordered — when the 32 are gone they're gone.

Before The Rush

The four-week back-to-school stock-up list

Salons get slammed the two weeks either side of the first day of school, and again when fall formals start. Working backward from mid-August, here's the order we'd put in now.

Timing What to lock in Why now
This week DND campus shades + fall browns New numbers sell out first; 40 shades is one order, not five
This week The wide UV/LED lamp 32 units, not backordered — the only hard-capped item in this drop
Next 2 weeks Builder gel + monomer back bar Overlay and fill demand climbs with the booking rush
Next 3–4 weeks Halloween art gel October nail art is the year's highest-margin add-on; buy it in August

Ordering by the case or building a full wall? Call us at 714-868-7088 and we'll price it out and pull it together. Not sure whether to buy direct or through a distributor? Our guide to where salons and techs actually buy supplies lays out the tradeoffs honestly.

Questions We Got This Week

HEMA-free and TPO-free, answered straight

What does HEMA-free gel polish actually change for my clients?

HEMA (hydroxyethyl methacrylate) is a small-molecule monomer used to boost adhesion. Because the molecule is small, it penetrates skin easily, and it's the ingredient most often behind the itching, lifting and contact-allergy reactions techs and clients report. HEMA-free formulas swap it for larger monomers that don't cross the skin barrier the same way. You keep the adhesion; you drop the most common sensitivity trigger.

Is TPO banned in the United States?

No. The TPO ban took effect in the European Union on September 1, 2025, after the EU reclassified it as a Category 1B reproductive toxicant. It does not currently apply in the US. What it did do is push the global manufacturers to reformulate, because most of them sell into Europe — which is why TPO-free options have expanded so quickly on this side of the Atlantic.

Do HEMA-free gels cure differently?

Generally you'll want to follow the manufacturer's cure time exactly rather than eyeballing it, and a hybrid UV/LED lamp gives you the widest compatibility across brands. Under-curing is the most common complaint when a salon switches formulas, and it's almost always a lamp-and-timing issue rather than the gel itself.

Can I mix HEMA-free color over a regular base?

You can, but you lose the point of the switch — if the goal is reducing a client's exposure, the whole system should be HEMA-free, base through top. If you're transitioning gradually, start with clients who've already reported sensitivity and move the full system for them first.

What are the back-to-school nail colors for 2026?

The 2026 back-to-school palette is warm neutrals and chocolate browns, school-spirit brights, glazed and softened chrome finishes, and preppy accents like thin plaid detailing. Sheer and jelly finishes are also outperforming their opaque versions right now. DND's 251–290 run covers most of it in one line.
