How Does Cat Eye Gel Work?
Cat eye gel contains magnetic iron oxide pigments. While the gel is still wet and uncured, holding a magnet above the nail causes the particles to shift and concentrate, creating a streak of light that resembles the slit pupil of a cat’s eye.
The effect varies depending on how long you hold the magnet, the angle, and how you move it. Straight across creates the classic stripe; angled or circular motions create fan shapes, sunbursts, and multi-stripe patterns. The new ring magnet takes this further — its circular design pulls particles into a full 360° galaxy orbit that a flat wand simply can’t create.

Step-by-Step: How to Create Cat Eye Gel Nails
Step 1 — Prep and base coat. Prep your nails as normal (buff, clean with IPA). Apply gel base coat and cure for 30–60 seconds.
Step 2 — Apply a dark base (optional but recommended). A thin coat of black or deep navy gel under the cat eye dramatically intensifies the contrast and shimmer. Cure completely.
Step 3 — Apply cat eye gel color. Apply one coat of your Cre8tion cat eye gel. Do NOT cure yet — the gel must stay wet for the magnet to work.
Step 4 — Apply the magnet. Hold the Duo Magnet or Ring Magnet about 2–5mm above the nail surface for 5–15 seconds. Watch the eye effect form in real time. Try different angles or the ring for circular galaxy patterns.
Step 5 — Cure while holding the effect. Without moving the magnet away, bring your hand under the LED lamp and start curing. Hold the magnet in place for the first 5–10 seconds, then remove it and let the lamp complete the cure (total: 60 seconds).
Step 6 — Apply a second coat and repeat. A second layer creates a stronger, more intense effect. Repeat steps 3–5 for the second coat.
Step 7 — Seal with no-wipe top coat. Apply Cre8tion Diamond Top Coat and cure for 60 seconds. This locks the magnetic pattern in permanently.
